Bubbles!!!

I figured out what cures a child's sickness - bubbles! Since Emmy was feeling so yucky, we decided to have some fun. She forgot all about how yucky she felt and just had fun chasing and popping bubbles! Oh, the simple joys of childhood.

Sick Binga

Our little Emmy Binga hasn't been feeling too great lately. We had her 15 month check-up scheduled a couple of days after she started feeling yucky so I just waited to take her to the Dr. We found out she has another ear infection - in both ears. Poor girl!!! This has, by far, been the worst ear infection she's had. Constant fevers in the low 100's, lots of moaning and sleepless nights. I feel so helpless! Luckily the Dr postponed her immunizations for a couple of weeks.

Yesterday was the worst, she really wasn't herself. I could tell she just did NOT feel good. Needless to say, we've had a couple of movie days. We've had plenty of Baby Einstein, Hairspray and The Incredibles playing on our tv.

Wouldn't eat anything . . . except for marshmallows! What can a mother do?

Yummy, yummy marshmallow

You can see in her eyes that she just doesn't feel good

Yup, not feeling great. Poor Binga!

New Words

"All Done" - said while she does the sign.

"Boots" - since Boots is always with Dora, now she knows who Boots is. The funny thing is that she's only watched the show once. That shows what her little toilet seat can teach her while she's sitting on it and looking at the pictures on it!

Camera Face

I had to post a pic of Emmy's camera face. I know I've posted pics before of it, but it is so funny, I had to post more. If I have the camera in my hand and tell her to smile, she just crinkles her eyes and smiles. It's so funny!

Oh, and this is my 100th post! Crazy.

Happy Valentine's Day!!!

Emmy and I woke up on Valentine's Day to find a nice surprise from Daddy! A beautiful bouquet of red roses for mommy and a pretty white rose and gift for Emmy - what a thoughtful dad! He was so excited to get a flower for his little girl. We love you so much, Jake, and are so lucky to have such a wonderful husband and dad! Happy Valentine's Day!

Fun things . . .

Here are some fun photos from the past couple days.

I woke up Sunday morning to find Emmy and Grammy doing this . . .

Grammy was helping Emmy put my shoes on and Emmy LOVED it!!!

Cute pic! Emmy and Grammy
Why does Emmy look a little guilty in this photo? I don't know but she sure is funny!

New Words

Here are a few more new words that I forgot to put:

"Emmy" - that's right, she can say her own name! She says it when she sees pictures of herself.

"Banana" - she pronounces it "na na". It's so funny!

"Down" - she says it when she wants me to put her down.

She's saying so many words, it's so fun that she's learning so much everyday!

Favorite Things

Here are some of Emmy's favorite things:

Favorite Movie: The Incredibles. This comes in handy when I have bows to make. I just pop in The Incredibles and her attention is totally grabbed by the movie! She also likes Hairspray. Maybe her mom has an influence on this one . . . but when the music comes on, she is dancing and loves it!

Favorite TV Show: Yes, she has a favorite tv show - well, two. They are Super Why! and The Backyardigans. Anything with music she is mesmerized by.

Favorite Food: She LOVES applesauce! She could probably eat it for breakfast, lunch & dinner. She also really likes macaroni & cheese. Her favorite snack is go-gurt and crunchy puffs (they're like Cheetos without the cheese, just salty. She could eat these for a meal!).

Favorite Toy: She loves any stuffed animal! She also loves her Magnedoodle. It has Dora on it and Dora can talk to her. She loves balloons and she loves her plastic blocks - she just likes taking them out of the container and putting them back in. And she puts the handle of the container on her arm and carries it around like a purse. It's so cute!

New Words

Here are some of Emmy's new words:

"Night Night" - pronounced "nigh nigh". So cute!

"Please" - pronouced "pease". She says it while doing the sign.

"Nose" - pronounced "no". She says this as she points to her nose.

Citizenship!

Some of you know that a year and a half ago, we found out that Jake was not a US citizen. That's right, total shocker! The weird part is that he's voted, he has a social security number, everything.

Here's the story: He was adopted from Chile when he was 6 months old and just assumed he's been a citizen his whole life. We applied for passports in 2006 and that's when we found out Jake wasn't a citizen. It turns out his parents didn't take all the steps they were supposed to for him to become a citizen when he was adopted (his brother is also not a citizen but one of his sisters is in the process of becoming a citizen, too). So, since that time, we've been taking all the steps that need to be taken for him to become a citizen. Today he had his final interview/test and . . . he passed! Now he just has to be sworn in. What a relief to almost have this behind us! Now we can go to Mexico together - finally!!! If we can just find the money to go . . .

Congrats, Jake!!! Here's to becoming a US Citizen!
