Kate Isabella {1 Year Pictures & Update}

Here are Kate's stats from her 1 year well check:

{Weight} : 23 lbs 7 oz (88th percentile)
{Height} : 32 1/2 inches (Off the charts! She was above 100th percentile!)

She is SO tall! Everyone comments on how tall she is and the fact that she's off the charts in height just proves that.

Here is what Kate has been up to lately:

- She started walking! She takes a few steps here and there when she gets brave enough. And she L.O.V.E.S holding our hand and walking. Really just a finger will do. Anything to make her feel safe and secure while she walks. She doesn't need us to balance, just to feel safe. She'll be walking all the time on her own so soon. I can't believe how fast she's growing up!

- She's learning new words every day! Here is a list of the words she can say:
*Uh-oh
*Mama
*Dada
*Papa
*Bye Bye
*Yeah!
*Hi
*Cah Cah

- She knows a couple animal sounds - "Quack Quack" and "Woof Woof"

- She can point to her head, ears, nose, tongue and when you ask her if she wants to wash her hands, she starts rubbing them together, like she's washing her hands!

- She LOVES getting into EVERYTHING! She especially loves the garbage can (I'm always finding her with half-eaten tissues and used dental floss in her mouth {SO gross, I know!} so garbage cans have had to go up high so she can't get to them), toilet paper roll, Emmy's play food in her fridge and the books on Emmy's bookshelf. Pretty much anything that will make a big mess.

- She has {11} teeth. Almost 12! Her last molar is about to break through. Those molars are no fun.

- She loves to eat strawberries {her favorite!}, blueberries, applesauce and yogurt. She's a pretty good eater, she'll try anything, but getting her to keep eating is a challenge. She'll eat a few bites of anything, but then she starts chucking it all on the floor. What can I say, she likes to make lots of messes!

- I am in the Primary Presidency and Jake is in the Elder's Quorum Presidency, so we juggle her around between the two of us at church, which is hard right now since she always wants to hold our hand and walk. A Nursery worker volunteered to take her to Nursery and she loved it! Maybe they'll take her more often :)

We did a {photo shoot} for Kate for her One Year Pictures.

My dad and I both like photography, and between the two of us I think we got some pretty good shots. Of course, when you've got a subject as cute as Kate, it's not hard to get some good pictures. I'm still figuring out Photoshop (Photoshop Elements is so much easier for me to use! Anyone have any Photoshop advice?) so the editing on the pics isn't great, but like I said, Kate is cute so the pictures are great!

Kate turns One!

Can you believe this beautiful baby girl is already ONE?!
Seriously - I gave birth to her one year ago.
I still can't believe how fast time has flown.

Poor Katers was sick on her birthday
{Emmy was sick on her first birthday,
too -
what's the deal???} but we still had a
great day!

The plan was to go to the lake on the morning of her birthday. Plans changed and I took Emmy to the lake while Jake took her to the doctor. I will post pics from the lake in a later post. I did feel a little guilty being at the lake while my birthday girl wasn't feeling well, but we had told Emmy we were going and you know how that goes . . . and Jake wanted to stay with Kate.

The good news was that she didn't have an ear infection {which I thought she probably had} but the bad news was that it was a viral infection, which meant there wasn't any medicine we could give her besides Motrin and Tylenol. Luckily her fever broke and by the time we got back from the lake, she was feeling much better.

So we had a little BBQ and then Kate got to dig into her first cake! She was a little hesitant at first {to be expected} but as soon as she realized she could dig in and enjoy, that's exactly what she did!

{As you can see I have mad cake decorating skills . . . just don't look too closely . . .}

{Dawson was ready to show Kate how it's done}

{She's starting to get her fingers a little dirty . . .}

{Love this pic! She is squishing that cake}

{She finally digs in!}

Kate had a bath and then it was time to open presents. All the kids loved helping her open them! It was a great day and we were excited to celebrate her first year of life!

{She had lots of help opening her presents :) }

Happy Birthday, baby girl!

Kate {11 months}

It's time for another Kate update!

Another month has gone by and she is 11 months old.
She will be one next month - cRaZy!

This little one is growing like a weed.

She is a whopping 23 lbs, 1 oz

Here is what she's been up to:

-  She is pulling herself up on everything now!

-  She likes to stand all by herself!  She is getting better at balancing and will be walking before we know it.

-  She can make her first animal sound!  If you ask her what a duck says, she answers with this cute little "quack" - it really is cute.

-  She has six teeth!  The newest additions are the ones just to the right and left of her two upper front teeth.  And I can feel where her molars are coming in.  My kids get their molars early, but if they're teething, might as well get as many in as we can, right?

She is such a fun and sweet girl.  I still can't believe she is almost one!  We love our Katers!

Kate {8 Months}

Kate is 8 months old!

Here are her 8 month stats:

{Weight}: 20 lbs 3 oz
{Height}:  28.5 inches

-  She started blowing kisses!
-  Just tonight she started clapping!

-  She's getting close to crawling.  She gets on her knees from a sitting position (she is not, and has never been, a fan of tummy time).

-  After biting mom lots and lots, she is now weaned.  I couldn't handle any more biting, so as of last week she is fully weaned which makes my life easier!  One day, she was really tired because she hadn't had her second nap.  I gave her a bottle (she likes to be left alone for the most part when she drinks her bottle) and found her like this a minute later . . .

 . . . needless to say, she was tired!

 She continues to learn new things everyday and we are having so much fun with this sweet little girl!

She and Emmy are becoming little buddies.  Emmy loves to try and make her laugh.  I love it!  I hope they can be best friends when they grow up :)
