Kate {15 months}

{I LOVE this pic}

Yes, it's true. This sweet girl is 15 months old!

Her personality has definitely {blossomed} over the past few months.

We took her to her 15 month well check and here are her stats:

{Weight}: 25.08 lbs (85th percentile)

{Height}: 33 inches (off the chart!)

Kate is talking like crazy! Here are some new words she's saying:

* Tickle, tickle
(she's been saying this for a few months but I forgot to put it on the last word post)
* A bite
* More
* All done
*Down (when she wants to get down)
* Emmy
* Amen
* Shoe
* Ga ga (translation = doggy, or any animal)
* Meow
* Hello (sounds like "hewo" - so cute!)
* Ouch! (she does this right before pinching someone - usually me.)
* Go
* Nanna (for banana)
* Book (sounds more like "boo")
* CC (my friend's name - the only other name she says besides family!)
* Ball
* Balloon

And she said her first sentence!!! Jake was leaving and she yelled out, "Bye, da da!" It was really cute and I was a proud mama since it was her first actual sentence (even if it was only two words . . .).

I might have to add more later if there are some words I forgot . . .

She still loves putting things in her mouth (as you can see from the picture above).

She loves folding her arms during the prayer. She looks around at everyone excitedly while the prayer is being said and sometimes (not every time) yells out "amen!"

We have a little doll stroller and Kate LOVES pushing it around. If anyone else tries to use it, she is not a happy camper.

When she wakes up in the morning, if Emmy isn't awake yet Kate will run to her door, push on it and start banging on it. So sweet - she loves her sister!

She LOVES music! When I put something on that is upbeat, she gets so excited, squeals and starts bouncing! She especially loves "California Gurls" and "Hot 'n Cold" by Katy Perry. She even does the "Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh" at the end of the chorus in "California Gurls" - seriously adorable.

If I'm not giving her enough attention, she will pinch my ankles with her little pincher fingers! That's when she says "ouch". Little stinker! It's especially not fun when I'm trying to make dinner and she's doing it. There's only so much a mom can do!

She is such a good eater! She will pretty much eat anything. SO different from Emmy. She was such a picky eater. It's nice to have a child actually eat what I give her for a change!

She LOVES the nursery at church. I usually go in with her during the first hour so she can play. I just hope she keeps loving it so we can have a smooth transition when she turns 1 and 1/2.

She loves books. She brings them to me and says her cute little version of "book".

She's got all of her teeth except for her "I" teeth.

{She let us wrap her in a burrito the other day - we used to swaddle her like that when she was a baby. It was cute that she actually laid there and let us do it!}

She still loves the boat! Seriously loves it. Last time we went out, she and I went for a ride on the tube. She loved it so much that I even let Jake drive a little faster than normal. She's gonna be my little daredevil, I can feel it :)

We love this girl more than words can say! She is such a happy girl and lights up our lives!

Kate {10 months}

Wowza!  This little one is already 10 months old!

She weighs 22 lbs 2 oz!

{No wonder my back is hurting all the time!}

I didn't record how much Emmy weighed at 10 months, but at 9 months Emmy was 18.5 lbs - so Kate is definitely bigger than Emmy was.  I already knew this since Kate is wearing clothes that Emmy wore when she was around 15 months old!

Here is what she's been up to:

- She's crawling!  She has been so close for two months and she finally got brave enough to do it.  She's not a little tornado or anything (so opposite from her sister!) but if she wants to get somewhere, she just crawls this cute, little crawl.

- She is starting to pull herself up.  At least she tries a lot.  She has only been successful once :)  I went into her room to get her up from a nap and there she was, standing there.
- She has been teething for the past two weeks and the dang teeth won't break through!  Her poor mouth.  And her poor nose - it has been running non-stop for the past two weeks.  We have to watch out for snot-rockets!

- I've been letting her watch the My First Signs DVD from Baby Einstein and she is learning some signs!  The other day I was saying "daddy" to her and she brought her hand up to her face and totally did the sign!  I was so proud :)  She tries to do the "ball" sign, too, but she doesn't quite have it yet.  Does she do the "mommy" sign?  Of course not!

- She LOVES her bottle and she LOVES to eat!  She is eating a lot of finger foods now and her favorites are strawberries, bananas, those little dried yogurt bites and Cheerios.

{Emmy and Kate have twin Dora chairs, thanks to Ella!  She gave us her old one}

Like I always say, she is SO MUCH FUN to have around!  We LOVE our little, laid-back Kate!

Kate {9 Months}

{After eating her first bite of ice cream}

Kate is 9 months old!

{Update}

Kate had her 9 month doctor's appointment.  Here are her stats:

{Weight}:  21 lbs (85th percentile)
{Height}:  30 inches (95th percentile)

Here's what Kate has been up to the past month:

-  Her two front teeth on top came in

-  She had ice cream for the first time!  {See Sedona post below}.

-  She's now waving

-  She gave me her first kiss today!  She leaned into me and kissed me.  It was so sweet and slobbery :)

{The very first ponytail!}

-  Her hair is barely long enough for a ponytail!  So you know that I'm doing ponytails with bows now!  I even got her hair into two little ponytails the other day.  Yes!

{First ponytail with bow!}

-  She's still SO CLOSE to crawling, but just not quite there yet.  She gets on her knees and then falls onto her belly {on purpose}.  I don't know if she's scared or what, but she is so, so close.

-  She and Emmy are such good little friends.  When Kate woke up the other day, she started waving at Emmy when she saw her and was so excited.  Emmy can always put a smile on her face.

{Best friends!}

This girl puts a smile on my face and a twinkle in my eye.

{The sweetest smile}

Kate's 6 Month Stats

We took Kate to her 6 month doctor's appointment last week.

Here are her latest stats:

{Weight}:  19.06 lbs (95th percentile)
{Height}:  27 3/4" (96th percentile)

She is a big, healthy girl!

Oh, and her first tooth made an appearance last week!  Her left central incisor to be exact.

Kate {6 Months}

Yes, she's {6 months} already!

Here's what Kate has been up to:

- She is 20 pounds!  What?!  I checked and Emmy was 16 pounds at 6 months.  Jake was 26 pounds at 6 months, so Kate is trying to catch up to that I guess :)

- She has graduated to fruits and veggies.  But her favorites are carrots and peas.  She just gobbles those down!  She doesn't really like fruit, especially not peaches.  We'll try bananas and see if she likes those any better.

- She is sitting up!  She kind of skipped rolling over (see below) and is becoming a pro at sitting all by herself.  She still falls on her face every now and then (ouch!) but she's getting more practice everyday and is getting better and better!

- She has rolled over twice! I was a little worried that she sort of skipped rolling over and went straight to sitting up, but her doctor said it's ok since she has rolled over.  Here is a pic of Kate trying to roll over. . .

. . . it's so hard when there are so many adorable rolls on that body!

-  She is wearing 6-9 month clothes but will be out of those soon!  I really can't believe how big she is.  She is definitely bigger than Emmy was at this age.

She goes in for her 6 month appointment next week, so I'll post exact stats then.

We are still loving this little girl, even if she does still get up at least once a night . . . no wonder she's such a chunker!

Don't you love these pics?  My mom took them and I am loving the super close-ups.

I am jealous of those beautiful lashes!

Kate {5 Months}

Kate turned {5 months old} last week!

Here are some new things she's doing:

-  Eating solid foods.  I gave her rice cereal for the first time last week (see pics below!).  I knew she was ready to start eating solids because every time I ate something while I was holding her, she would lean forward with her mouth wide open.  I can tell she wants to get it right into her mouth.  It is so hilarious when she does it!  I was trying to hold off as long as I could because of Emmy's allergies (I don't want Kate to have food allergies, too, if I can help it).  But I decided it was time.  And she loved it!  She started smiling when I gave her her first bite.

-  She is loving her hands.  She loves mashing them together, shoving them in her mouth, grabbing anything and everything she can reach.

-  She loves to stick out her tongue.  It is so funny!  She mostly does it when she's happy and smiling.  It's really cute.  I need to get a pic of it.

-  She still loves to be held all the time.  Like I've said before, it's hard getting anything done, but I can't complain too much.  She's so soft and squishy, it's nice to squeeze and love her!

-  She's starting to babble a lot.  She's been saying "Maaaa" and "Baaaa," things like that.  It's fun to hear her make all of her noises.

-  She's also started screaming.  She just does it when she's talking and babbling but it's really random and funny.

She isn't rolling over yet (maybe she would be if she'd let me put her down more often (: ) or sitting up yet, but she's getting close to both!

And I'm pretty sure her first tooth is just about to come in.  She's been waking up a lot the past couple of nights and her gums feel a little swollen.  No fevers or runny noses, though.  I won't be surprised if a little tooth peeks out sometime in the next week or so.

Here are the first solid foods pics:

Yummy!

Kate has her Deer in the Headlights look and Emmy looks a little mischievous . . .

Halloween 2009

HaPpY hAlLoWeEn!!!

I hope you all had a nice, candy-filled weekend. We sure did!

On Halloween, we were visited by this sweet little flower:

and this spunky little witch:

We went Trunk or Treating on Saturday night where Emmy filled her pumpkin candy bucket with lots of delicious candy.  When she gets older, we'll probably have to hit some houses, but for now, it's nice to be done with the Trunk or Treat party at the church :)  We actually did go to two houses.  There is a sweet, sweet lady in our ward that Emmy calls Grandma Audrey.  We had to stop by her house so Grandma Audrey could see Emmy the Witch and Kate the Flower!  And, of course, we went to Grammy and Papa's house.

Emmy has been asking for her pumpkin candy bucket every 5 minutes.  Good thing she has a mommy that won't let her overdose on Halloween candy.

Here are some more sPoOkY Halloween pics of the little goblins!
WARNING:  Picture overload ahead.

Seriously, the sweetest flower I've ever seen!

And the cutest little witch!

Grammy putting on the witch's warts

Emmy doing her witch cackle . . . "Hee hee hee!"

Kate {3 months}

How can this sweet little girl already be 3 months old???

Here are some things I {love} about Kate:

- She is the sweetest baby! She's always ready with a big, slobbery smile :)
- She must really love me, because she sleeps through the night!
- She loves her big sister. She's always watching her and following her around the room with her eyes.
- She's starting to grab things. She loves her playmat because of the animals that dangle down. She reaches out and grabs on!
- She {LOVES} music! Anytime I sing to her, she starts talking and cooing and, I swear, it's like she's trying to sing!
- She started giggling a few weeks ago. Those little giggles are the best sounds ever! I always run to grab the camera when she starts, but I'm always a little too late and barely catch the last giggle.

We love our sweet little Kate!

Huh? You talkin' to me? (Look at those eyelashes - so long and they curl up! Lucky girl!)

Just chillin' with Emmy. Well, Emmy's watching a movie and Kate's just hanging out while I'm getting Sunday dinner ready :)

My Girls

Lately, we have been trying to find a normal routine here at our house. It's hard trying to find what "normal" is after you have a baby.

Luckily, Emmy has accepted the baby and loves her! She woke up the other morning and the baby was gone (my mom had taken her to her house next door). Emmy was so distraught, she started crying and wanted to find baby sister! It was nice to see that Emmy is used to having the baby around, and that she likes having the baby around (even though sometimes she tells me, "don't hold baby sister, mom!).

Here are some random pics . . .

{Lunch Time}

Emmy was "feeding" the baby

Kate wasn't a fan . . .

{Funny Faces}

This was one of Kate's first real smiles. {She started smiling at 4 weeks old} It's not the best picture in the world, but at least we caught the smile!

Don't know what was happening here . . . but I like it!

{Outdoor Fun}

Kate hung out on a blanket in the shade . . .

. . . while Emmy splashed around in her new pool! We let her pick her own, and {surprise, surprise} she picked the fairy pool.

I must say, it's fun having two girls!!!

Firsts

Kate got her first "real" bath last week! At first she wasn't too sure about it (see pic above), but she decided she liked the nice, warm water for a while (see pic below) before she decided she was right the first time and didn't really like it :)
