Christmas 2012

Christmas was so much fun this year!

And REALLY busy.

I started selling Scentsy right before Christmas and all the Scensty parties kept me BUSY!  It paid off - I was the top salesman of my Scentsy sales team in December.  It was a great start for my business!

Santa sent us an Elf on the Shelf this year.

The girls named him Sonny :)

They had so much fun looking for him every morning.  That was always the first thing on Emmy's mind, and the first thing she would say to me every morning, "Mom, where's Sonny?"  So we'd go searching for him.  He ended up in lots of fun places - hanging from our pot rack in the kitchen, on our Christmas tree, and, as you can see below, holding baby Jesus in our Nativity.

Sonny was a great motivator to keep the girls on the "Nice" list this year.  We thank him for that :)

Emmy didn't want Sonny to be lonely, so we drew, colored and cut out a little friend for him.  Emmy wanted it to look just like Sonny.  I drew him and Emmy colored him in and drew in his face.  Sonny loved him!  He kept his friend with him the whole time!

Christmas was on a Sunday this year, which was a great way to keep Christmas focused on the Savior.  We had 9:00 church, which we thought might be a little difficult.  But Santa wrote a letter to the girls asking them to wait until after church to open their presents.  They were more than happy to wait!  Thanks for that, Santa!

The girls got a dollhouse from Santa this year!

He was sneaky and didn't bring it to us until we were at church.  Otherwise, the girls wouldn't have wanted to leave it.  So when we came home from church, there it was right in our living room!  The girls were SO excited.  They played with the dollhouse (and some mini Disney Princess dolls - the ones that have their clothes attached!  Thank you, Santa!) ALL DAY!

They also got baby Rapunzel dolls - what Emmy had been asking Santa for.  Santa was smart and gave the girls the same things - he knew there might be fighting over toys otherwise.  Kate didn't even want to open any of her other presents after she opened Rapunzel.  I had to open her stocking for her. 

And the girls also got Scentsy Buddies for Christmas from mommy!  They had been fighting over the one I got in my Starter Kit (which I didn't really want them playing with, anyways, since I use it to displays at parties) so they each got their own!  They are so cuddly and adorable and the girls still sleep with them every night.

The girls got a few other things and we all had a wonderful Christmas!  It even included a new iPhone for mom (yay!) and an iPad from Grammy and Papa for the whole family (Jake is LOVING it!).  Having kids makes Christmas so much fun!!!  It makes Christmas morning so exciting.  We love our Emmy and Kate!  Who knows . . . maybe next Christmas, mommy will be pregnant with another little Malie?  We'll see!

Christmas 2010

Here's what went down on Christmas day this year.

The girls woke up and got going on those presents!

Kate was just happy to tear the wrapping paper.  For real.  That could have been her Christmas present, just unwrapping gifts.

She thought that was great!

Kate asked for a new baby stroller since her old one broke.  She also got her very own doll to push in the stroller.  She was cruising with that thing, running all around the island in the kitchen!

She also got a Leap Frog fridge magnet toy (She loves watching Letter Factory and knows almost all the sounds that go with each letter.  She's such a smarty!), some clothes, a new dress-up dress and a few things in her stocking.  Santa was sure not to overdo it this year.  Every year we say we won't overdo it, but this year we really didn't (at least w/ Kate).

Emmy opened her presents (some new dress-ups, dresses {that is all she wants to wear.  I can never get her to wear pants!}, a Memory game, a Tangled/Rapunzel game to go with her Leapster and some things in her stocking).  

She had asked Santa for a new bike.  Well, sneaky Santa, he hid it behind a chair and covered it with a blanket!  When we found it, Emmy ripped that blanket right off and was so excited!

She also got a Rapunzel Barbie and a Tag Reader from Leap Frog with a bunch of books to read with it from Grammy and Papa.  She was really spoiled this year for Christmas!

As for Jake and Michelle:

Jake got a new gun {oh how we loves his guns}, a new phone and a few knick-knacks for Christmas.

Michelle was spoiled and got a Kindle!  Along with some new boots, a popcorn popper and a few other knick-knacks.

I try not to make Christmas about the gifts, but it sure is fun to open presents on Christmas!  It's even more fun to watch your kids see what Santa brought them and open all the beautifully wrapped presents.  

Santa actually only brings one present to each child in our family each year and the rest are from mom and dad.  Otherwise, Santa wouldn't be able to fit everything in his sack!  And we know which presents are from Santa because there is a little silver bell tied to them.

The rest of Christmas day was totally relaxed.  We spent the day in our jammies (I wish we could do that more often!) and nibbled on yummy food all day.  

Poor mommy got sick that night and most of what she ate came right back up.  But luckily she felt better the next day :)

We really loved spending time with each other and with our family that lives nearby {we live right next door to Grammy and Papa.  Lindsey and her family came up in the afternoon and spent the night}.  We watched movies, relaxed and played with our new gifts.

I am WAY behind on blogging!

Time to play catch-up.

We had a WONDERFUL Christmas this year!

We LOVED having Jake home {Besides work.  I love breaks from school!}.

We LOVED spending time with family.

We LOVED eating delicious treats :)

We LOVED the spirit of Christmas that filled our home.

Every Christmas Eve, we go to my sister's house in St. George for a Hansen family Christmas party.  We've done it for the last 4 or 5 years.  We eat dinner, exchange some gifts, and have a great time.

The grandkids put together a gingerbread house {the girls are wearing Christmas aprons that Grammy gave them}:

Kate was getting into the kitchen cupboards - do you like her shoes?  She put them on herself.  One of her own and one of Dawson's :)

Papa read the Christmas story from Luke:

This year my mom wrote a story called "The Key to Christmas."  She got the grandkids their own "Christmas Keys" to hang on the tree to remind them of the true meaning of Christmas.  She read the story to us before she gave the kids their keys:

We also watch Mr. Kruger's Christmas every year.  It's a tradition that we've had ever since I was little.  

Before it was available on DVD, we used to go to the Visitor's Center at the temple and watch it every Christmas season.  I love it!

My parents got Shelley this hat, flower clip and necklace for Christmas (all from Binga Bows!).  Shelley LOVED them!  It was really cute.  She was smiling from ear to ear when she put them on}

What is better than spending time with family and focusing on the Savior?  

I can't think of too many things.

Santa Claus is Comin' to Town!

We have had lots of fun seeing Santa this year!

It started at the Dicken's Festival.  We see Santa there every year.

We have a picture of Emmy about the same age as Kate is here, and she is crying, too!  I love the classic crying with Santa pics.


Next, we went to the Iron Mission State Park.  There were lots of activities for the kids to do, including seeing Santa!  But Emmy informed me that the Santa there wasn't the real Santa because the other Santa she saw was the real Santa.

Kate was a little concerned, but didn't cry this time.


And we got to see Santa yet again!
We went down to SUU for an alumni dinner and guess who showed up?  Santa!

 

Kate was scared again - at least she has stranger danger!  No messing with her.

We have had such a great holiday season this year.  I have really felt the spirit of Christmas.

Christmas 2008

We had a great Christmas at our house this year. On Christmas Eve, we went to my sister's house and had our annual Christmas Eve party! We ate yummy food, watched Mr. Krueger's Christmas (we watch it every year - it's the one with Jimmy Stewart), and Santa Clause came to visit! I'll have to post those pics later, they are on my dad's camera. For an added bonus, this year Jake's brother and his wife decided to join us for Christmas. It was so fun having them here! On Christmas day, we opened presents, ate yummy food, relaxed and played games. Here are some highlights from our day . . .

Christmas Card Photo

Well, since we are going on a cruise (we leave tonight!), I'm not going to have time to do Christmas cards this year. Which is ok with me! It gives me an excuse not to do them :) Plus it will save us a little cash, not sending them out. So, here is the photo that would have been on our Christmas card . . .

Santa Clause!

The Dicken's Festival was this weekend and we got to see Santa again! Remember THIS from last year? Well, Emmy was so good with Santa this year! Just look at this adorable picture:


Isn't that just adorable? And she told Santa "Thank you, Santa" after he gave her a candy cane :) I also got to sing again at the Dicken's Festival this year. It was a blast! We did a little Christmas shopping and got in the Christmas spirit.

Also, I wanted to share one of the cute things Emmy has been doing lately. She's been running up to me, holding one finger up and saying, "I'll be right back . . . " and then tells me what she's doing in one word. For instance, she'll say, "I'll be right back, dancing." Or "I'll be right back, dress," meaning she wants to put on one of her dress-up dresses. It is so cute! And her face is all serious when she says it.

Santa Clause is coming to town . . .

Well I guess Santa already came to town! Emmy was on the nice list this year because Santa made a visit to our house! Santa only leaves a few presents for her, though, and the rest are from mom and dad. One thing she got that she loved was a spinbrush toothbrush. Santa left it in her stocking with some yummy toothpaste. Well, I guess Emmy doesn't think the bubble gum flavored kid toothpaste doesn't taste that great because she always has a funny look on her face when we use it. But she got some movies, including her favorite, The Incredibles. She got some clothes and toys and a ton of books. We didn't go overboard this year, we'll save that for when she's older and she knows whats going on! We spent Christmas Eve at Aunt Lindsey's house, which was a lot of fun. We slept over and Emmy loved being with her cousins. We had a great Christmas and hope all of you did, too!

Christmas Card Photo Shoot
