Random things from October

Once again, there are a bunch of random pictures that don't need their own post, so I'll do a random October post.  Most of these are from my iPhone (good thing I have it, or else there would be hardly any pictures taken!).

Kate got to go on her first field trip for preschool!  And it was her first time riding a school bus.  She was so excited!  They went to the Pumpkin Patch and Kate got to pick out her very own pumpkin.

The girls loved going to this section of Walmart every time we went.  They had to push each button and watch each of the skeletons, mummys and monsters dance:

Conference weekend, we went to St. George.  While the boys went to the Priesthood session, the girls and kids went to dinner!

I volunteered in Emmy's class for Centers once a week until now - I could have this baby anytime!  Emmy loved having me there and never wanted me to leave.  It was fun working with her and the other kids in her group.  Thanks to Papa who would usually watch Kate while I volunteered.

Walking to pick Emmy up when it was still warm outside.  Kate rode her trike and I carried Emmy's scooter so she could ride it home.  It's one of the perks of living close to the school.

Once a week, a couple of friends and I do a Kid Swap.  We each take turns having all the kids at our homes so the other moms can have a break and do whatever they want!  Plus, it gives the kids a fun play date.  This day, I turned on Thriller so the kids could have a Zombie dance party.  And they did look like Zombies ... spooky!

I went down to St. George to go to Witches Night Out at Staheli Farm with Lindsey.  It was fun!  We got our creative juices flowing and made our witch hats.  And, of course, we had a blast!

Another Walmart picture.  This is how the girls keep themselves entertained while we're in the check out line :)

It was crazy hair day at Emmy's school.  We did four or five pony tails on her head.  Next year, we'll get even crazier!

I'm so glad these two have each other :)
Sisters are the best!

Adventures of a snaggle tooth {Part one}

Emmy's front left tooth started getting loose.
Then it turned into a full on snaggle tooth!  But she would NOT let us pull that sucker out.  She was too scared.

Said snaggle tooth:

I finally gave Emmy an ultimatum - be brave and let daddy pull your tooth or we would tackle her down and do it the hard way.  Luckily, she chose to be brave!
And she was so excited to lose her tooth after it was pulled:

Just look at that beautiful face!

And, just like the last two times, the Tooth Fairy left her $1 under her pillow.
And this is not the end of Emmy losing teeth in 2012 ...

September Randomness

Here are some random photos from September that I took on my phone.  I didn't know where else to post them, so here's a random post of pics from September.

We started doing a Mommy and Me dance class for Kate.  It was a pay as you go class so we didn't go every week, but we'd make it as often as we could.  Then we put Kate in pre-school four days a week so we couldn't go to the dance class anymore, but she loved it when we went!

Emmy came with us and had to get in on the action, too :)

I helped throw a baby shower for my friend, Brooke, with our other friend, Abby.  The theme was "She's About to Pop" and it turned out really cute:

I curled Kate's hair with my big curling iron one day.  It was the straightest her hair has ever been!

My brother, Matt, and his family came down to visit in September.  They don't make it down much because of Matt's work schedule, but when we get together, the kids love it!  We went to Pine Valley one day and made tin foil dinners.  The kids had so much fun!

Dawson, Emmy and Grey pretending to be statues at our camp spot in Pine Valley:

Face painting at the Back to School Bash at South Elementary.  The girls had so much fun at the party, Kate still asks me when we get to go to the party when she sees the field at Emmy's school.

Church callings

 {Some of the YW, my presidency and I}

Jake was called to be the Ward Clerk in our ward this summer (I think maybe in May or June).  I was still the Young Women President, which meant two big callings in our family again.  It was only a big problem once a month when we were both supposed to be at Ward Council.  When my parents were in town, they could watch the girls.

When Jake told the Bishop I was pregnant, he called me in and asked what I'd like to do as far as my calling went.  He would have kept me in if that's what I'd wanted to do.  But I had been Young Women President for two years and with two little kids, one on the way, a husband in school with a big church calling, I felt like it was time to be released.  So I told the Bishop that, by the time I had the baby, it would be okay for him to release me :)

So in September, after over two years as Young Women President, I was released.  It was bittersweet.  I absolutely love those young women!  But I still get to see them every week at church and talk to them.  And knowing the person who replaced me was really helpful for me, knowing they were going into good hands.  It made it easier to be released.

Now I'm calling-less!  I'm not gonna lie, it's been kind of nice not having any church responsibilities other than Visiting Teaching or bringing food to a Ward party.  I know it won't last long, so I'm enjoying it while I can!

Another lost tooth!

2012 was the year for Emmy for losing teeth!
In September, Emmy lost her other, middle, bottom tooth.

The tooth fairy visited her once again and left her another dollar bill.
It's so exciting losing teeth!

Iron County Fair

What would life in Iron County be without going to the Iron County Fair?
Overpriced rides, greasy food, face painting - what more could you ask for?

This year we had our niece, Ellie, with us.  The girls had a blast!

We started out with face painting.  The girls both chose Hello Kitty.  So cute!

Then we moved on to the rides!

Ellie is in the one behind Kate and Emmy:

Emmy braving the slide by herself!

Kate riding the boat:

Poor Jake got really sick at the fair this year.  He gets really, really motion sick and he took Kate on a spinning strawberry ride.  He was not a happy camper by the end.  I had to stop on the side of the road on the way home for him to puke his guts out.  Poor guy!  Next year, Jake will not be riding any spinning rides!

Aladdin!

I took Emmy to see Aladdin at Tuacahn this year.
She loved it!  We got tickets for half off through Jake's work (thanks, IHC!) and Lindsey and her family came, too.

The kids really wanted to meet Aladdin and Jasmine after it was over and get their pics with them, but they ended up not coming out that night - bummer!

We still got some cute pics, though:

Silly girls!

Hansen Family Reunion, 2012

We had a family reunion in Salt Lake City this year with my parents, siblings and their families.  We had a blast!  Matt and Sony were nice enough to put everyone up at their house (they have a huge house that can fit all of us - yay!).

The drive up:

We started the trip with tickets to see Wicked at the Capitol Theater!
My mom got tickets for everyone.  It was so awesome!  Emmy got to come and she absolutely LOVED it!  Jake even liked it :)

My mom invited her sister, Suzan, too.

Linds and I:

The next day, we all went to Lagoon!  Or, as Kate calls it, Magoon.  The girls had SO much fun there with their cousins.  They still ask all the time if we can go back.  I couldn't go on most rides since I'm pregnant, but Jake took Emmy on the white roller coaster and she loved it!

Kate and Dawson - these two LOVE each other!  Kate asks at least once a week if we can go see Dawsy.

Emmy, Dawson and Kate on one of the rides:

Em and Kate on the Carousel:

These are all pics from my phone - I didn't take too many, but I'm glad I took some!  I'm just sad I didn't get any with Grammy and Papa.

The next day, Grammy and Papa went home but the rest of us stayed and spent the afternoon at Boondocks.  We were probably there for 3 or 4 hours - way too long for me!  But the kids had fun.

We played video games:

Laser Tag:

Rode the bumper boats and raced cars on the race track.

We had so much fun spending a few days with family/cousins, especially Matt's family, since we don't get to see them that often.  Thanks Grammy and Papa for such a fun trip!

24th of July

Ah, the 24th of July.
Again, we're a little out of order here, but I guess that's what happens when you leave most of your blogging for the end of the year ...

This year, we went to the annual 2nd Ward 24th breakfast at the church.  It's a little early for us (starts at 7:00 am) but we love going every year.

Then we went to the 24th of July Parade!  Yes, another parade!

We decided to go down to St. George and go swimming at the pool at my parent's house in Coral Canyon.  We brought our friends, the Coons, with us and the kids had fun swimming.

It got really rainy with thunderstorms, so we headed over to Lindsey and Derek's house so the kids could play with their cousins.  They ended up in Lindsey's unfinished backyard, playing in the mud!

Yummmm!
Another fun 24th of July!  Thank you, pioneers, for coming to Utah on the 24th :)

Kate turns 3!

I forgot to do a post about Kate's birthday this year.
She turned three in June!
We had a little family party for her (I think next year she'll get her first friend party!).  I took lots of pictures with my dad's camera, but before I downloaded them, Papa, ahem, someone deleted them :(
We even tried recovering them from the memory card, but with no luck.

Kate wanted a donut cake, so that's what she got!  I stacked donuts on a cake stand with a little banner on top that said "KATE".  It was cute and just what she wanted.

I was actually at Youth Conference on her actual birthday (I had to leave the morning of her birthday) so we celebrated the day before.  That's another reason for no pics :(

I can't believe how fast my little girl is growing up!

Since we have no pics from her birthday, here are some cute ones of Kate:

She sure loves her Papa!

Mustache, anyone?
